  • Visual Studio App Center is a service for implementing and analyzing (primarily mobile) applications.
  • HockeyApp and some other services are being replaced by App Center.
  • App Center is separate from, but integrated with, Visual Studio Team Services.

Visual Studio App Center, which became generally available in Nov. 2017, offers capabilities for building, testing, distributing, and analyzing (primarily mobile) applications. App Center could help teams implement and maintain Android, iOS, and other types of applications without coordinating diverse separate tools. The service, which is typically accessed by developers through a Web-based portal, is separate from Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS), but it integrates functionality of other Microsoft services, such as HockeyApp, Xamarin Test Cloud, and Azure Mobile Engagement. Some of these services will be discontinued as their features become supported by App Center.
