Azure Blueprints is an Azure feature in a long-running preview that enhances governance by allowing resources to be deployed and managed using consistent patterns. This capability should enable deployments of Azure resources that are more consistent than manual deployment and configuration would enable. Blueprints uses JSON-based templates that allow organizations to control how Azure resources will be created, managed, and secured. This control is performed by combining multiple Azure management components into one template and applying these templates in a reproducible way.

Service Overview

Blueprints are created and stored within Azure Management Groups, which can be used to organize Azure subscriptions and the resources within them.

Blueprints can be applied directly to containers within a management group; these can be individual subscriptions or child management groups within the parent management group. A blueprint can contain any of the following Azure management objects, referred to as “artifacts:”
