The Azure Deployment Environments service helps development teams repeatably provision Azure resources to host Azure applications for development, testing, and production use. The service has similar capabilities to Azure DevTest Labs, a service that has been generally available for several years. The Azure Development Environments service can help teams ensure that environments where Azure-based applications are deployed contain the necessary resources while managing their access and costs.

Service Overview

The Azure Deployment Environments service helps administrators and development team leads manage environments created during application development.

An isolated set of Azure resource instances for one deployment of an Azure-based application is called an environment. An application typically must be deployed in several environments throughout a development life cycle, such as for development, testing, and production stages. Environments can be short-lived (for example, to test a specific code branch or check-in) or persistent (for example, a test stage where daily builds are deployed).
