Upcoming changes to the service in the near and long term include:

Near Term (2024–2025)

Microsoft Intune updates in preview and recently released include:

  • Support for managing Defender for Endpoint tamper protection using Intune security settings

  • Support for Defender for Endpoint security settings in all Government Community Cloud (GCC) environments

  • Preview of Security Copilot integrated into Intune

  • Support for enrollment of Ubuntu 24.04 desktops.

Long Term (Beyond 2025)

Microsoft Intune will likely receive improvements including the following:

  • Regular feature enablement with the arrival of the latest releases of Windows, macOS, iOS/iPadOS, and Android in the second half of each year

  • Few major feature enhancements other than for the features bundled into the Intune
