In order to support increasingly stringent user privacy regulations, Microsoft introduced a new service entitled Priva (formerly known as Privacy Management) for Microsoft 365 in Nov. 2021. Priva is not included in any existing Microsoft 365 licenses; it must be purchased separately. Priva is licensed separately from Microsoft’s Purview suite of compliance services, although its reports are viewed in the Microsoft 365 compliance portal (compliance.microsoft.com).
Service Description
Priva’s two components, which can be trialed and licensed separately, assist administrators and compliance professionals with detecting, mitigating, and responding to privacy-related issues:
Privacy Management—Risk helps manage and mitigate risks associated with processing personal data, sometimes called personally identifiable information (PII), such as driver’s license numbers, credit card numbers, telephone numbers, and so on.
