Office mobile applications enable viewing and editing Office documents on iOS, Android, and Windows 10 mobile devices. Shown here is Word for Android smartphones, which enables viewing, creation, and editing of documents in Word format with styles, real-time spell checking with a built-in dictionary, and many reviewing features.

The Office Mobile applications allow users to create and edit Office documents while traveling, with less likelihood of corruption than third-party Office document editors for mobile devices. They are generally more capable than the browser-based Office Online applications (formerly Office Web Apps). For example, Word Mobile for Android enables change tracking, which is missing from Word Online, and PowerPoint Mobile for Android provides Presenter View.

The mobile applications will receive point updates throughout 2016. For example, the iOS versions were updated in June 2016 to support OpenDocument format exports. However, the applications might not expand their scope much: Microsoft is putting some new features into separate, special-purpose mobile applications such as Send (messaging), Groups, and Delve applications.
