Support for most Forefront antimalware products ended Dec. 31, 2015.
Endpoint Protection for protecting both client and server OSs remains supported and can be managed using System Center Configuration Manager—administrators must use the Configuration Manager console for central management of Endpoint Protection security updates and policies. Endpoint Protection is updated frequently in conjunction with Configuration Manager. The current version drops the version number of previous releases and is simply called Endpoint Protection. (But it is shown as 2016 here because the latest version was delivered at the same time as System Center 2016.) Windows Server 2016 includes Windows Defender, which has similar capabilities to Endpoint Protection.
Threat Management Gateway (TMG) 2010, the follow-on to the Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA Server), was discontinued as of Dec. 1, 2012. Mainstream support for TMG 2010 and Extended support for ISA Server 2004 ended on Apr. 14, 2015. TMG and TMG Medium Business Edition (MBE) use the Threat Management Gateway Web Protection Service, which accesses Microsoft Reputation Services (a cloud-based URL categorization service), to help protect users from browsing to malicious Web sites. Support and updates for the Web Protection Service ceased after Dec. 31, 2015. TMG is used by the Unified Access Gateway (UAG).
