Charts & IllustrationsOffice 365 Groups Shared Resources
Groups are collaboration spaces that associate file libraries, shared calendars, a shared inbox, a notebook, and other resources with an Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) group. Many Microsoft collaborations offerings are now built on Groups, for both identification and resources. Shown here, Groups owns an Exchange-hosted Calendar and Inbox, as well as SharePoint-hosted document libraries and a OneNote notebook. Groups memberships and other security information are stored in Azure AD, not shown here.
Other applications, built atop Groups, can share some or all of the resources offered by Groups. OneDrive for Business, for example, provides access to document libraries that are hosted within SharePoint and accessed through Groups.
Dynamics 365 is not a member of the Office 365 family. However, it uses certain Groups resources (a shared e-mail inbox and a notebook) to provide in-application collaboration with users in an organization that have Office 365 licenses but not Dynamics 365 licenses.
