Analytics Services Dashboards

HockeyApp (top) and Visual Studio Application Insights (bottom) are Microsoft-hosted services that use telemetry to track application usage, performance, and other metrics. The services can help developers and IT staff monitor, analyze, and diagnose application behavior.

HockeyApp is targeted primarily for use with Android, iOS, and Universal Windows Platform applications. The HockeyApp Web-based portal shown here allows developers to register applications with the service, which can distribute test builds to user groups. Versions distributed can be viewed along with, for example, the numbers of devices and crashes tracked for each version. Graphs of the number of crashes, downloads, users, and sessions over time are also shown in this dashboard view. HockeyApp functionality will be merged into a new offering called Visual Studio Mobile Center (in preview), which integrates several existing Microsoft-hosted services into a single portal that aims to help developers and administrators build, test, deploy, and monitor mobile applications.
