The Operations Management Suite (OMS) bundles Azure hosted services to provide a less expensive alternative to separate subscriptions for managing on-premises and hosted compute resources. The suite may be attractive to customers who want to manage on-premises and Azure computer resources from the Internet, or to those who want to use Azure as part of a backup and disaster recovery plan. OMS includes subscription System Center add-on licenses for four Azure services hosted by Microsoft: Log Analytics, Backup, Site Recovery, and Automation (including Automation DSC). OMS was released July 2015 and was originally licensed only as an add-on to System Center suites—customers without System Center could subscribe to the individual services but not the suite. As of July 1, 2016, however, OMS can now be licensed with rights to use some System Center products, including Configuration Manager, Data Protection Manager, Operations Manager, Orchestrator, Service Manager, and Virtual Machine Manager.
