RoadmapAI Services Roadmap
Azure AI Services are a collection of cloud services designed to help developers add specific artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to their applications with minimal upfront cost and expertise. They are less expensive to deploy and scale than comparable machine learning environments built independently. In July 2023, Microsoft consolidated branding of Cognitive Services and Applied AI Services offerings as Azure AI Services. No pricing changes were announced, although some services have been renamed and many older services, listed below, have been retired.

Near Term (2024–2025)
AI Services offerings are updated separately and have individual roadmaps.
Azure OpenAI Service, which leverages language models from OpenAI, is under active development. New features of note include the latest GPT-4o versions (o for “omni”) with the latest Large Language Model (LLM) from OpenAI, which supports both text and imagery, and “GPT-4o mini,” a Small Language Model (SLM) that is expected to cost less while providing access to external data sources. The service also upgraded default content filtering features to protect against attacks to user prompts (called “prompt shields”) and completions (responses). Near-term plans include global deployment features that send traffic to the datacenter having the optimal availability for a request.
