Azure Automanage is being discontinued on Sept. 30, 2027. The service simplifies the setup of management tasks for Azure VMs and Azure Arc-enabled servers running Windows Server, Linux, and Windows client OSs. Automanage applies standard configuration policies to managed nodes and onboards them to several commonly used management services in Azure, reducing IT effort and improving management consistency. However, given its pending retirement, other services, such as Azure Policy, Azure Update Manager, and Azure Automation, should be used (possibly in combination) to perform these tasks.

Near-Term Roadmap (2026–2027)

No changes have arrived in Automanage because it’s being discontinued.

Microsoft has provided guidance on migrating from Automanage to Azure Policy.

Long-Term Roadmap (Beyond 2027)

Automanage will be discontinued on Sept. 30, 2027. Customers should plan to migrate processes to services such as Azure Policy, Azure Update Manager, and Azure Automation.
