Azure App Testing is a service that combines the Azure Load Testing service and Azure Playwright Workspaces in a unified Azure portal UI.

Azure Load Testing load-tests any type of application hosted in Azure and elsewhere when an HTTP endpoint is available by generating activity (loads) against target applications using Apache JMeter and Locust. Azure Load Testing could help teams do load testing more frequently and earlier in development cycles, increasing opportunities to find load-related problems before deployment to production.

Playwright Workspaces tests Web applications via their front ends (it doesn’t directly test back-end code) using Microsoft’s open-source Playwright testing framework and cloud-hosted browsers across multiple platforms in parallel. It can speed test suite execution without requiring manual installation and configuration of environments and browsers.

Near-Term Roadmap (2026–2027)

Azure Load Testing and Playwright Workspaces were merged into the Azure App Testing service in late 2025. The consolidation unifies the management UIs of these related services into a single hub.
