Databricks Roadmap

Azure Databricks is an Azure cloud service based on Databricks, which is a third-party technology that provides analytics, orchestration, and collaboration tools for creating and operating advanced analytics and machine learning applications. Microsoft provides automated scaling and back-end compute and storage resources, and in addition, integrations to other Azure services that can be used to enhance Databricks and create a complete application environment.

Near Term (2024–2025)

The Databricks product set is widely adopted and continues to receive significant investment from its parent company. Microsoft keeps the Azure Databricks service up to date with the latest versions of the Databricks runtime and is also improving the service with more data integrations, security features, and management tools.

The latest Databricks runtime is version 15.3, which was released in June 2024 and has had minor updates each month.
