Near-Term Updates and Roadmap (2026-2027)
Microsoft Foundry (formerly Azure AI Foundry) is transitioning from a collection of Azure AI services and development tools into Microsoft’s primary platform for enterprise AI and agent development. Microsoft’s focus will be on consolidating development, deployment, governance, and operations under a common platform more than adding new features. For customers, the primary challenge will be transitioning from legacy Azure AI and Azure OpenAI architectures to the Foundry model while balancing adoption of new capabilities against platform maturity and operational risk.
