Viva Engage (formerly Yammer), one of several components in Microsoft’s Employee Experience Platform (EXP), is a Teams app that provides an internally facing social platform that employees use for collaboration, conversations, communities, and social interaction. It includes typical social media features like storylines, social posting, achievement recognition, and two-way communication.

Recent Updates and Near Term Roadmap (2025)

Viva Engage will get a wave of updates beginning Apr. 2026 that were in preview in Mar. 2026.

Communities will appear in Teams with a redesigned UI. Q&A community support will deliver improvements such as designated community experts and verified answers for questions that have been approved by community experts or administrators. Current Engage users will automatically migrate to the new version, but Teams customers who haven’t used Engage before will have to make network and directory changes.
