Audio Conferencing is a Microsoft hosted service that augments Teams and Skype for Business Online by allowing meeting attendees to use a traditional phone to connect to meetings when they are unable to attend online. Attendees do not need to be licensed to use Audio Conferencing. The service is available in a wide range of countries, with phone numbers usually assigned to a specific capital or major city within the country or region.
Audio Conferencing includes an unlimited number of dial-in minutes for an unlimited number of meetings each month. Toll-free numbers can be used with Audio Conference meetings, but are billed per minute and require Communication Credits, an account that is billed for per-minute use of telephony services used with Teams or Skype for Business Online. The Audio Conferencing service is also able to dial out to users, but doing so incurs additional charges that have to be covered by Communication Credits.
Audio Conferencing is included in the Office 365 Enterprise E5 and Microsoft 365 Enterprise E5 suites. It is also available as a stand-alone User Subscription License (User SL) to augment Office 365 Enterprise E1 and E3 suites. Only users scheduling or hosting a dial-in meeting with Audio Conferencing enabled require a User SL; attendees connecting to the meetings using Audio Conferencing do not require a license.
