SidebarSystem Center Product Names
The System Center product line supports computer and network configuration, monitoring, analysis, and other administrative tasks. Beginning with the 2012 versions, the System Center brand has been extended to more products and many have been discontinued or replaced. Some products have received name changes. For example, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 was officially replaced by System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. In this guide, however, the older-style naming is retained to help distinguish between versions of the products; for example, Configuration Manager 2016. Note that Microsoft commonly uses other acronyms for these products; for example, SCCM, SCOM, SCVMM, and others.
Current and previous System Center products are as follows:
- Advisor (previously code-named Atlanta, now part of Azure Operational Insights)*
- App Controller (previously code-named Concero, now replaced by features of Windows Azure Pack)*
- Capacity Planner (discontinued)*
- Configuration Manager
