SidebarSystem Center Products
The System Center product line supports computer and network configuration, monitoring, analysis, and other administrative tasks. It is designed for large-scale, on-premises installations but is rapidly being extended to handle cloud scenarios, especially with Windows Azure.
In 2012, System Center products received name changes. For example, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 was replaced by System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. In addition, most products are no longer available separately but must be licensed as part of a suite.
Current products in System Center 2012 SP1 are as follows:
Advisor (previously code-named Atlanta) is a Microsoft-hosted, Web-based online application with a Silverlight user interface that is designed to help prevent common Windows Server, SQL Server, Exchange Server, and SharePoint Server misconfiguration issues and quickly resolve issues when they occur.
App Controller* is a Web-based management portal that allows department-level application managers to deploy and manage applications using on-premises and Azure cloud-based virtualized resources, while allowing central monitoring by IT administrators.
