The BackOffice 2000 Server License contains only one Windows 2000 license. Businesses that want to take advantage of the ability to deploy it over several computers, by putting the Exchange or SQL Server components of BackOffice 2000 on different servers, for example, must purchase additional Windows 2000 Server licenses for those other servers.
Each BackOffice 2000 Client Access License (CAL) enables a client system to access any BackOffice Server 2000 suite component, in any combination, anywhere within an organization. BackOffice 2000 comes with five CALs. If CALs have already been purchased for the individual servers (e.g., Exchange 2000) within BackOffice 2000, then additional BackOffice 2000 CALs are not required.
Version Upgrades and CAL Version Upgrades are available for customers with active licenses for BackOffice versions 2.x, 4.0, or 4.5. Customers who purchased BackOffice Server 4.5 between Nov. 15, 2000, and Jan. 31, 2001, or BackOffice 4.5 CALs between Nov. 15, 2000, and Dec. 31, 2000, are eligible for a free Version Upgrade to the BackOffice 2000 versions.
