  • Azure Active Directory (AAD) supports the SCIM 2.0 specification, which enables automatic provisioning of users into AAD and out to third-party applications.
  • For organizations using AAD single sign-on, the feature can help discontinue access when employees leave, and ensure consistent user information across HR systems and applications.
  • The feature requires AAD Premium P1 licensing.

Azure Active Directory (AAD) support for the System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) 2.0 standard enables organizations using AAD single sign-on to integrate their existing processes for onboarding new users into AAD, and for provisioning accounts for those users in third-party applications if they also support SCIM. This capability could allow organizations to more rapidly provision and remove user access to AAD and third-party applications like Dropbox with less custom work. The feature is still evolving and requires careful configuration, and AAD Premium P1 licenses are necessary for all users managed through it.
