  • To Do has become Microsoft’s primary personal task manager and will soon be the only Web-based task manager for Exchange Online.
  • To Do’s predecessor Wunderlist will be shut down May 6, 2020.

To Do is a Microsoft-hosted personal task management application that helps users create and manage task lists and synchronizes the lists between phones, tablets, and computers.

Overview

To Do helps users create tasks, group tasks into lists, set reminders and due dates, and track the status of tasks. To Do clients show a My Day display with daily unfinished tasks and suggested tasks (based on machine learning results). To Do is aimed at task management for individuals and has limited ability to share tasks or assign tasks by team or project on its own. However, Microsoft has plans to integrate To Do with more capable task management products.

Users can access To Do through clients for Android, iOS, macOS, Web browsers, and Windows 10 devices. To Do uses Exchange Online for task storage and synchronization, so To Do users can view their Exchange Online tasks locally through the To Do clients and create tasks in To Do that appear in Outlook client applications and the Outlook on the Web browser interface. To Do therefore provides a cross-platform solution for accessing Exchange Online tasks, which has been missing on most mobile devices. However, To Do has features not supported by Outlook, such as sub-tasks , so customers using To Do tasks in Outlook will have to live with a limited feature set.
