  • System Center 2019 Update Rollup 1 brings bug fixes and new functionality for the suite of system management applications.
  • New capabilities are provided for Operations Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, and Data Protection Manager.
  • Configuration Manager continues to follow a different release and support life-cycle policy.

System Center 2019 Update Rollup 1 (UR1) became generally available on Feb. 4, 2020. This is the first update since System Center 2019 was released in Mar. 2019, when Microsoft discontinued the Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) release cadence for the System Center suite (excluding Configuration Manager). New features and other servicing updates to System Center are now periodically offered in the form of update rollups, which do not require Software Assurance (SA).

Update Provides New Functionality

In addition to bug fixes for the System Center suite of applications, System Center 2019 UR1 provides the following new capabilities:

Operations Manager now supports group Managed Service Accounts (gMSA) for Operations Manager components, which can improve security and password management. A gMSA is a managed domain account that provides delegation and automatic password management for multiple instances of a service hosted on a server farm. A new patch installer could simplify updating the Operations Manager environment, which includes management services, database schemas, and management packs. A new management pack for Linux works with multiple Linux distributions instead of requiring a different management pack for each version of Linux, and updated management packs for Storage Spaces Direct and Azure resources provide additional detail and controls.
