Azure Arc is a set of capabilities for using Azure management interfaces to work with deployments hosted outside of Azure. Arc could simplify managing a combination of services hosted in Azure, on-premises, and in other clouds, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). It allows customers to have a mix of Azure-hosted and non-Azure deployments that can be managed together, ensuring a consistent application of policies and services.
Arc works by extending the Azure Resource Manager management framework to enable the creation of Azure resources for deployments that are hosted outside of Azure. Non-Azure deployments, such as VMs, SQL Server instances, and database services, can be managed in the Azure portal alongside Azure-hosted deployments using several of the same user interfaces and services, such as tags, policies, advanced security, monitoring, and backup.
