  • System Center 2022 adds support for the latest versions of Windows Server and Azure Stack HCI.
  • Data Protection Manager 2022, which enables data and VM backups, is planned for general availability in May 2022.
  • The suite focuses on data center management; Configuration Manager is no longer released as part of System Center.
  • This version has few new features, but Microsoft claims additional hybrid management capabilities will be added at a later date.

System Center 2022 became generally available in Apr. 2022, although the suite’s Data Protection Manager application will not be available until at least May 2022. This new version of the data center management suite focuses on adding support for Windows Server 2022, Azure Stack HCI 21H2, and additional Linux distributions. However, it offers few or, in some cases, no new capabilities for the component applications within the suite. System Center 2022 could interest organizations deploying the latest versions of Windows Server and Azure Stack HCI, but others may want to wait for future updates promised by Microsoft.
