Is Dataverse for Teams a Viable Option?

A version of Dataverse for Teams is included for all users who are licensed to use Teams, even if they are not licensed with a stand-alone version of a Power Platform or Dynamics 365 license that gives them full Dataverse access.

In some cases, organizations that are reluctant to pay the high cost of Power Platform licenses are advised to use Teams as a front end for projects to save costs (while increasing lock-in to the communications platform).

Dataverse for Teams provides unlimited use rights for environments (workgroup resources that contain specific applications, flows, and optionally a Dataverse database) that are created within Teams and associated with a team, but these environments are functionally limited:

  • Dataverse for Teams is limited to 2GB of data per environment, which provides roughly 1 million rows of data capacity (Dataverse can scale up to 4TB per environment)
