  • A new version of Azure Front Door incorporates the capabilities of Azure CDN from Microsoft and offers traffic analytics and reporting.
  • A premium tier includes security capabilities and integrations to help protect Web applications.
  • The new version will eventually replace the current Front Door and Azure CDN from Microsoft services.

A new version of Azure Front Door became available in Mar. 2022. It incorporates the data-caching capabilities of Azure Content Delivery Network (CDN) from Microsoft, offers command-line provisioning, and provides additional logs and reporting. Azure Front Door allows organizations to globally route an Azure application’s Web traffic for network performance and load balancing. The new version also adds a premium tier focused on protecting Web applications from external threats and includes the capabilities of Azure Web Application Firewall (WAF). The service could be useful to organizations deploying large-scale global or multi-region Web applications on Azure.
