  • Power Apps, Power Automate, and other services will roll out improvements on a six-month cadence.
  • Upcoming changes continue to move Power Platform services away from “citizen developers” toward professionals and teams.
  • Data connectivity, professional development, enterprise administration, and Teams support all get enhancements in the 2022–2023 roadmap.

Power Platform components, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse, have adopted the “release wave” roadmap scheme that Dynamics 365 has used for several years. Power Platform 2022 Release Wave 2 begins a six-month period during which new features will arrive as often as every week. The features and changes discussed here are expected to be released or made available for preview from Oct. 2022 through Mar. 2023.

Power Apps

Power Apps is a graphical application development environment for nondevelopers to create Azure-hosted applications that can present data for viewing and editing. The service will enable creation of offline mobile apps, which could make it a more viable platform for applications serving field service and other job roles with occasional connectivity. Also planned are features to improve collaboration capabilities, including support for Teams meetings within apps.
