Microsoft Viva is a suite that includes the functionality of several existing Microsoft 365 services and reintroduces them as apps within Teams. Viva is positioned against other Employee Experience Platform (EXP) offerings from third parties such as IBM, Kudos, PeopleDoc, Qualtrics, and ServiceNow, as well as combinations of tools from Salesforce and Slack. EXP tools are intended to improve employees’ productivity by connecting knowledge workers with peers, providing easier access to relevant information, and presenting productivity tips and guidance. However, Viva offers few capabilities not already available through existing Microsoft offerings.

Viva as an Employee Experience Platform

The Viva suite includes apps for personal insights and analytics, learning, curated topics from internal sources, and organizational news, including Viva Connections, Viva Insights, Viva Learning, Viva Topics, Viva Goals, Viva Sales, and Viva Engage.
