As on-premises versions of SharePoint Server leave support, two tools from Microsoft are receiving more migration features that could help customers move many sites to SharePoint Online.

Customers may still need to restructure content and re-create some customizations because SharePoint Online does not provide server-side code options. A migration assessment tool can identify some issues and help map user identities, while a provided migration tool can perform the actual content moves.
