  • Azure Automanage is a service for configuring and deploying common management tasks for Azure VMs and Azure Arc enabled servers.
  • Now generally available, Automanage has additional features and OS support, including some capabilities of Azure Policy and Automation.
  • Automanage is free, but organizations will incur charges for services onboarded by Automanage like Backup and Log Analytics.

Azure Automanage, which became generally available in Oct. 2022, simplifies the setup of management tasks for Azure VMs and Azure Arc enabled servers running Windows Server, Linux, and Windows client OSs. Leveraging best practices documented in Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework (a guide to planning, migration, management, and governance of applications in Azure), Automanage applies standard configuration policies and onboards several commonly used management services, reducing IT effort and improving management consistency. Updates since public preview expand Automanage support and customizations, and some capabilities of Azure Automation and Azure Policy are now part of the Automanage brand.
