  • Azure Load Testing, generally available, is a service that load tests applications hosted in Azure and elsewhere.
  • It could help teams do load testing more frequently and earlier in development cycles, increasing opportunities to find load-related problems before production deployment.
  • It provides metrics to ease measuring results that help determine how to improve code and deployments.

Azure Load Testing uses a PaaS model based on Apache JMeter software to generate loads against target applications. It eliminates the customer burden of deploying load-testing infrastructure, simplifying and reducing the cost of this type of testing, which can be especially important for teams using Agile practices and DevOps software life cycles.

Load and Stress Testing Using Apache JMeter

Software testing plans should typically include a form of load testing wherein applications are subjected to simulated user activity that reflects the maximum (or greater) traffic that the applications may need to handle when deployed into production. The terms “load” and “stress” are sometimes used interchangeably for this type of testing, although their goals are subtly different: stress testing is more focused on finding the failure thresholds of applications.
