Customer management of Azure costs is an ongoing process that requires planning, estimating, analysis, and optimization. This kit summarizes Directions on Microsoft publications that can help with these processes.

Planning includes solution architecture choices that determine required resource performance and capacities. Azure offers many options for building solutions, and the same solution could be deployed in various ways within Azure but at different costs. Azure resources should be deployed in an organized way that maps to, for example, internal teams, business units, or solutions to enable cost accountability and chargeback. Azure provides logical hierarchical structures such as management groups, subscriptions, and resource groups for organizing deployments. Naming schemes should be designed with accountability in mind. Customers should carefully plan or review their Azure tags, which can be used, for example, to identify the business unit or solutions with which resources are associated,
