Analyst ReportWindows 365 for Frontline Workers Enters Preview
- Windows 365 Frontline, in limited preview, offers concurrency-based licensing, optimizing cost for hourly and shift-worker scenarios.
- The service will require more management than Windows 365 Enterprise but will have lower Per-User licensing costs.
- Update: Windows 365 Frontline became generally available in July 2023.
Windows 365 Frontline, in limited preview, provides the same hosted Windows desktops (called Cloud PCs) as Windows 365 Enterprise, with each Cloud PC assigned to a single user and managed via Intune. However, Windows 365 Frontline allows organizations to deploy up to three Cloud PCs per license, although only one may be active at any given time. Windows 365 Frontline could be more cost-effective for organizations with shift-based workers who do not need their Cloud PCs outside their shifts. However, the service will require planning to deploy effectively, and it incurs additional management overhead.
