Several features present in SharePoint Server 2010 on-premises are not available in SharePoint Online. SharePoint Online focuses on the collaboration aspects of SharePoint, providing for document-sharing capability outside of an organization, a lightweight Web presence, and Internet-accessible Office Web Apps. SharePoint Online currently omits many features of SharePoint Server 2010, such as those that rely on connectivity to on-premises servers or provide search extensibility, and some (such as PowerPivot and PerformancePoint Services) that provide for business intelligence.
