The Windows group continues to reorganize as Windows Vista prepares for launch in Jan. 2007. Microsoft has also shuffled its international sales strategy and marketing teams for specific vertical industries, and promoted a recent hire to Chief Information Officer (CIO).

New Leaders in Windows Core

Jon DeVaan has begun assembling a new development team for the core of the Windows OS in the wake of Vista’s release to manufacturing on Nov. 8, 2006.

Ben Fathi has been named corporate vice president, Core OS Development. Fathi will lead development for Windows core OS components such as the kernel, network stack, and overall OS architecture, and will also lead development of the Windows XP Embedded product and associated tools. Fathi formerly led the Security Technology Unit and was responsible for Windows core security technologies (such as access control mechanisms) and the Security Response Center.
