The Application Platform Agreement (APA) targets SQL Server but covers many other platform products. In general, customers on a current APA can add any number of the licenses listed below at no additional cost.

However, not all licenses required to deploy a product can be covered on an APA; for example, SharePoint Server Client Access Licenses (CALs) cannot be covered. Similarly, systems management products such as Configuration Manager require product licenses for every server running the product and management licenses (MLs) for every device managed; an APA only covers MLs, except as indicated below.

Product Covered Licenses
SQL Server Processor or server, CAL (except Web and Workgroup editions)
SharePoint Server Server (not CALs)
BizTalk Server Processor
Visual Studio Team System Server, Team Suite, CAL, External Connector, Test Load Agent
PerformancePoint Server Server, CAL, External Connector
Configuration Manager Enterprise
