With Wave 4, Hotmail users will be able to employ SkyDrive to share Office documents and images, rather than attaching them to e-mail messages.
This screen shot shows the interface for creating a new e-mail message in Hotmail. Selecting the Office docs command in the Insert menu lets users post Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, or OneNote notebooks from a PC to a personal Windows Live SkyDrive account, which offers up to 25GB of free online storage. Hotmail users will also be prompted to create an online document on SkyDrive whenever they attach an Office file to a new message. Similarly, selecting the Photos command lets users create a photo album on SkyDrive, and Hotmail users will be prompted to create a photo album whenever they attempt to attach more than one image to a new message.
In this screen shot, the sender has used the Hotmail interface to post a Word document, MIX10_NOTES.doc, and an album containing several images, to SkyDrive. For each new e-mail message, senders may upload up to 200 files of up to 50MB each—10GB total—to SkyDrive in this fashion.
