Analyst ReportServer Apps Need Updates for 2012 Platform
Current versions of some business server applications will not be supported on Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012, according to the company’s current plans. That could limit the roles in which organizations deploy these two 2012 platform products and hinder standardization. However, most application versions that will run on the 2012 platform have been released to manufacturing and should be available in Dec. 2012.
Exchange Almost Alone in 2012 Support
Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 are the latest versions of Microsoft’s server OS and database management system platforms, respectively. Microsoft applications other than Exchange Server and Commerce Server will require full version upgrades to qualify for Microsoft product support on the two 2012 products; they might work, but Microsoft will not guarantee support. Upcoming application versions also are supported only on the two most recent versions of Windows Server and SQL Server. (See the chart “Application Version Support on Recent Platforms“.)
