The following section summarizes recent major changes to the Core CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite composition and pricing, which could have a material impact on customers’ license entitlements and expenditures. (For an overview of suite contents, see the illustration “CAL Suite Components“.)

When additional licenses are added to CAL suites, all new and existing customers generally benefit immediately, regardless of volume licensing program. However, when prices are increased or licenses are removed from suites, effects can be immediate or delayed depending on customer circumstances, with Enterprise Agreements (EA) customers (including those signing Enterprise Subscription Enrollments) generally receiving the most favorable provisions.

Major changes to CAL suite component rights and pricing since 2011 are summarized below, and all Product Terms and Product List documents referenced below can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/product-licensing/products.aspx. (Product Lists, which were replaced by Product Terms, must be downloaded by selecting “Archived versions” in the Product Terms section.)
