Azure, Microsoft’s hosted application and storage services offering, provides discounts and financial credits on select services when used exclusively for software development and test purposes. Administrators can gain discounts for their organizations, and individual users with active Visual Studio (VS) and Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Platforms subscriptions automatically receive monthly Azure credits. However, in general all users in either program must have VS or MSDN Platform subscriptions.

Azure Dev/Test Subscriptions

Azure Dev/Test, a configuration option offered through Azure organizational subscriptions, allows administrators to create special Azure subscriptions for their developers, testers, and IT staff who have VS or MSDN Platforms subscriptions. Azure Dev/Test is available to customers who have Azure under an Enterprise Agreement (EA) or on a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) model.
