Charts & IllustrationsPower BI Developers to Receive New SharePoint Integration Worth Using
- Power BI Desktop developers are getting deeper integration with OneDrive and SharePoint that can help dev groups work together.
- The new features are an improvement on the current manual process, which is time consuming, error prone, and less secure.
- However, the new features are not a full development collaboration solution, and teams will require new procedures to avoid clashes.
- In a rare occurrence, Directions recommends using the new feature even though they are in preview.
Developers using the Power BI Desktop application can use new integration features (in preview) that simplify using OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online to store, access, and share Power BI files. The features automate Power BI Desktop’s requirement to work with a local file, while leveraging existing OneDrive and SharePoint Online features for file versioning, backup, and security. Unfortunately, the features do not provide a full development collaboration solution with check-in/check-out and merging, so inevitable clashes still need to be resolved manually.
