Application Insights Roadmap

Application Insights (part of Azure Monitor) uses telemetry to monitor applications running in development, test, and production environments and collects data on application usage, performance, and availability. The service is targeted toward Web applications and cloud and on-premises back-end services.

Product: Application Insights

Near Term (2025–2026)

TLS 1.0 and 1.1, legacy TLS 1.2 and 1.3 cipher suites, and legacy TLS elliptical curves were retired on May 1, 2025.

Auto-instrumentation, which enables monitoring without modifying code, for Java and Node microservices is in preview.

Long Term (Beyond 2026)

Possible updates include AI-driven analysis of monitoring data obtained by Application Insights to help developers and administrators improve applications. More integration with Copilot for Azure to enable improved natural language interactivity with the service may also arrive, such as the ability to create HTTP-based tests using the Copilot.

Directions Recommends

Use Azure Application Insights to diagnose application issues, track errors produced by applications, and analyze application performance.
