The Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC), a set of online tools to assist Volume Licensing customers and reseller partners in getting software downloads and managing license and subscription purchases, received some incremental updates. To date, the VLSC is an underused resource. With the changes, customers and partners should be able to find and retrieve software and corresponding product keys, which will help reduce customer support costs for partners.

What Is the VLSC?

The VLSC is a Web portal for customers and partners to download software and product keys, view Software Assurance (SA) subscription information (SA is a subscription offering providing product version upgrades and other benefits), and track license purchases. All Volume Licensing customers using Open, Select, Select Plus, and Enterprise programs, as well as resellers of Microsoft products, can utilize the site by creating a user account. Typically, an organization’s IT procurement professional will be the primary user. The VLSC tools are intended to help streamline the software implementation process as well as provide a reference for a customer’s license and SA purchase history with Microsoft. Customers and partners claimed in the past that the site was difficult to navigate, especially for purposes of finding the correct product keys for the downloaded software.
