Microsoft divides its business into the following seven categories:

Client includes the company’s desktop OSs, such as Windows XP and Windows 2000 Professional.

Information Worker includes desktop applications, such as Office, Project, and Visio; related server products, such as Project Server; SharePoint Portal Server Client Access Licenses (CALs); the Live Meeting hosted online meeting service; and Professional Support.

Server and Tools includes all Windows server OSs and most server applications, such as SQL and Exchange, and CALs for these products; developer tools and services; Microsoft Press; and various enterprise services, including consulting, Premier Support, and training.

MSN includes MSN Web sites and subscription services.

Home and Entertainment includes Xbox consoles and games, PC games, learning and productivity software, Mac software, hardware such as mice and keyboards, and TV platform products.

Business Solutions includes business productivity and management applications such as Great Plains, Solomon, Navision, Axapta, and Microsoft Customer Relationship Management (MSCRM).
