The Microsoft sales force and partner teams are increasingly being organized around specific industries and verticals. Not all subsidiaries will focus on all industries, and the way that subsidiaries engage industries may vary to meet local conditions, but the following chart provides a general guide to how Microsoft categorizes industries (top level categories) and verticals (subsets of customers within industries).

Note that Microsoft uses the same industry and vertical categories for both its Enterprise and Partner Group and its Small and Midmarket Solutions and Partners (SMS&P) Group. This allows marketing and background collateral developed for a particular industry to be used by sales teams and partners for customers of any size.
