Charts & IllustrationsSharePoint Support for Mobile Devices
Mobile users can access SharePoint 2013 from mobile devices, through a variety of enhancements to SharePoint’s Web-based user interface, improvements to the Office Web Applications (now no longer a component of SharePoint Server itself), and apps on mobile devices.
The Office Web apps and native apps for mobile devices generally include Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Word. The types of documents supported by the mobile apps, and the formatting options available within those documents, are more limited than those of the Office Web Apps, and capabilities vary by device.
Certain SharePoint features and mobile applications have specific licensing requirements, such as Enterprise Client Access Licenses, or one or more Office 365 subscription requirements, so businesses looking at using SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint Online with mobile devices should carefully investigate features available with the edition and license model of SharePoint and Office 2013 planned for deployment before deciding on which server-side technology to migrate to.
