Major developments for Microsoft’s business applications roadmap since the Dec. 2014 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:

  • Limited preview programs began in Feb. 2015 for the next versions of Office (Office 2016) and Exchange Server (Exchange Server 2016), which will probably appear in the fourth quarter of 2015.
  • Excel, PowerPoint, and Word applications became generally available for Android tablets in Jan. 2015.
  • Previews of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word universal apps became available for Windows 10 technical preview participants in Feb. 2015.
  • Exchange 2013 CU7 became generally available in Dec. 2014.
  • New Exchange client applications for Android and iOS devices, based on technology acquired from Acompli, were released in Jan. 2015.
  • The next version of SharePoint Server will be called SharePoint Server 2016; it will probably ship in the fourth quarter of 2015, with an initial preview at Microsoft’s May 2015 Ignite conference.
