Windows client OS servicing options depend on the OS edition. Listed here are the three servicing options and the Windows client OS editions for which they will be offered.

Current Branch is the sole servicing option available for Windows 10 Home, the base-level edition of the OS. Windows Home will be preinstalled on most consumer devices, so it could be important in organizations with “bring your own device” policies. Updates to the OS in this option are provided through Windows Update, and include mandatory feature updates in addition to security updates. (Unlike previous releases of Windows, users cannot deselect updates they do not want to deploy.)

Current Branch for Business is available for Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education. Updates to the OS in this option are provided through Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), or the new Windows Update for Business service and include mandatory feature updates and security updates. However, feature updates can be deferred for a longer period of time than they can in the Current Branch.
