The System Center product line supports computer and network configuration, monitoring, analysis, and other administrative tasks. Current System Center 2016 products are as follows:

  • Configuration Manager
  • Data Protection Manager
  • Endpoint Protection
  • Operations Manager
  • Orchestrator
  • Service Manager
  • Virtual Machine Manager.

Since the release of System Center 2012, the individual System Center products generally are no longer available separately but must be acquired as part of a System Center licensing bundle (with the exception of Endpoint Protection for clients). For managing servers, there are two bundles, which differ only in virtualization rights: System Center 2016 Standard and System Center 2016 Datacenter, each containing licenses for seven System Center 2016 products. For managing clients, there are three bundles:

  • Configuration Manager Client Management License (CML) with rights to use Configuration Manager and Virtual Machine Manager
  • Endpoint Protection
